Event organizers

It is possible to apply temporary airspace restrictions for public events.

Restrictions on the use of airspace may be applied for large public events in order to avoid endangering the public by flying different kinds of unmanned aerial vehicles. If the event organizers intend to operate Unmanned Aircrafts during the event, they must follow the flight rules regardless of whether an airspace restriction has been applied or not. If open category rules can not be followed, an operational authorisation for the specific category shall be applied.

Organizers of large mass events may ask local authorities, such as the police or the rescue services, to apply to Traficom to temporarily restrict aviation in the area. In this case, the local authorities will also take care of granting any exemptions, for example for media photography helicopters.
